Sportsmans Warehouse SA School Sports Girls’ First Team School Hockey Rankings – Latest Edition
After an incredibly busy week of hockey that featured several major tournaments, we can now reveal how these thrilling matches have impacted this week’s Girls’ First Team School Hockey Rankings—and there’s been no shortage of excitement!
First, let’s shine a spotlight on the St Mary’s Waverley Festival, which traditionally shakes up the rankings with its shorter match format and the sheer quality of top teams involved. This year was no different! St Mary’s DSG Kloof delivered a phenomenal performance, peeling off win after win to reach the final and claim their third title at the event. Their sensational run has catapulted them into the Top 10, and if their form continues, they’ll be serious contenders for even higher honours.
Our Lady Fatima also made headlines this week, climbing a few spots to now sit at their highest ranking in their history—a testament to their consistency and determination.
At the summit, Rhenish did just enough to retain the No.1 position, but a closer look reveals that the gap at the top has narrowed considerably. The competition is fierce, and the top of the table is now more crowded than ever.
Unfortunately, not everyone could come out on top—Collegiate and Herschel took the biggest tumble, falling out of the Top 10 after a tough week on the turf. But with so many matches still to come, redemption is always possible.
The race to qualify for the two prestigious national tournaments is now truly on! Remember, the Top 12 teams on the SA School Sports Rankings will earn their place at the Oranje Meisies Super 12 Tournament, while positions 13-24 will be invited to compete in the exciting Rising Champions Cup hosted by La Rochelle.
Every game matters, every goal counts—and the margin for qualification will be razor-thin. So keep playing your hearts out and climbing those school hockey rankings!
Here’s to an exhilarating season ahead—good luck to all the teams, and thank you for the amazing support and passion shown each week!
