There were some major results this week that have shaken up the latest First XI School Cricket Rankings. DHS pulled off a thrilling last-over win at home against Hilton College, chasing down 205 runs with just one wicket remaining. After Hilton’s openers put on a solid 62 without loss, Semal Pillay made the crucial breakthrough. Bayanda Majola’s fiery spell of 3/26 further weakened Hilton’s middle order. Ismaael Omar anchored the DHS chase with a composed half-century, while Taine Havermann’s valuable middle-order contribution, including the winning runs, sealed the victory in the final over.
Another standout result saw SACS secure a 28-run win over Rondebosch. Rondebosch seemed well-positioned at 150 without loss, chasing SACS’ target of 270, but they failed to bat through their 50 overs. Earlier, SACS captain Reza Sailie led the charge with a commanding 88, setting up the winning total. Rondebosch’s middle order collapsed, with wicketkeeper Keiron Bowers taking six catches as seven Rondebosch batters fell for single figures.
Notable individual performances included Jason Rowles of St Davids, who smashed an unbeaten 140 against St Benedicts.
