SOCCER
Hilton 1st X1 beat Kearsney 1st X1 2-0
Playing in front of their home crowd, Hilton came out firing, but Kearsney held on with their strong defence and good goalkeeping in the first fixture of the season.
Hilton eventually went one goal up with a long range shot which the Kearsney goalkeeper was unable to hold on to. Soon afterwards a Hilton striker took a thunderous shot from outside the box, again leaving the Kearsney goalie no chance.
In the second half, Kearsney dominated all aspects of play and had numerous unsuccessful shots at the Hilton goal. Had Kearsney’s strikers taken their opportunities they could have at least equalled Hilton’s goals, but soccer is about those who take their chances. The game ended with Hilton winning 2-0.
