The prestigious St. Mary’s Waverley Tournament (SMW) served as a major stage for the nation’s top schools to showcase their talents, and the results have caused a stir in the latest school hockey rankings.
Durban Girls’ College Claims Historic Third St. Mary’s Title!
Durban Girls’ College (DGC) were the stars of the show at the SMW Tournament, showcasing exceptional form and securing their third St. Mary’s title in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Eunice. This win has propelled DGC into the coveted top 5 zone of the school hockey rankings, a testament to their consistent brilliance.

The competition at the SMW Tournament was fierce, with all the big names displaying top-notch hockey. Rhenish, currently sitting comfortably in second place on the school hockey rankings, only dropped one match throughout the tournament, proving their dominance and nobody will discount the current No.1’s Oranje Meisies. This intense competition has undoubtedly intensified the race to qualify for the prestigious year-end tournaments.
Don’t Miss Out on the Oranje Meisies Super 12 & La Rochelle Challengers Cup!
The top 12 teams in the school hockey rankings will have the honor of automatically qualifying for the Oranje Meisies Super 12 Tournament. For teams ranked 13th to 25th, the battle is on to secure an invitation to the La Rochelle Challengers Cup. Every win and every point earned in the coming weeks will be crucial in determining who gets to compete on these prestigious national stages.
