In the thrilling world of school cricket, this week’s First XI Cricket rankings have seen some remarkable shifts and standout performances that have kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Rondebosch showed their mettle during the Cape Schools week, securing impressive victories that demonstrated their cricketing prowess.
St. Stithians, on the other hand, seems to have found their groove once more, delivering dominant performances at the Michaelmas Festival. Their commanding victories over Hilton and Westville have certainly put the pressure on Rondebosch for the coveted No.1 spot in the rankings.
The week was brimming with standout individual achievements as well. Michaelhouse’s seam bowler, Michael Thornton, impressed with a stunning 5/15 against Pretoria Boys High, while Jaydon Groenewald of Pearson showed his mettle by taking 5/16 in their clash against Wynberg.
Cornwall’s Tshepo Molete left a mark with his exceptional bowling, securing figures of 5/43 against Waterkloof, and Hilton’s captain, Ross Boast, made his presence felt with an impressive 5/31 against KES. Esa Ganget was also in stellar form, claiming a brilliant 5/55 for Pearson against Rondebosch.
In the realm of batting, Wynberg’s Benjamin Hansen etched his name in the annals of cricketing glory with an unbeaten century, amassing a remarkable 120 runs against Grey High.
Not to be outdone, St. Davids’ Gomolemo Phiri showcased his batting prowess, hammering an unbeaten 106 against DHS.
