Kearsney's Dylan Wigget & Liam Johnson celebrate scoring against Michaelhouse.

Kearsney 1st X1 beat Michaelhouse 1st X1 1-0

Kearsney College welcomed Michaelhouse on Saturday, with both teams looking to secure a much-needed victory after no result the previous weekend. Unfortunately for Michaelhouse, they will have to wait another week.

From the first whistle, Kearsney had a foothold on the game and did not let up. Michaelhouse found it difficult to gain momentum as a rampant Kearsney defensive effort made it tough for them to get out of their own half. At the end of the first quarter, the scoreboard was nil all.

Early in the second quarter, Kearsney broke the deadlock with a well-worked goal. Transferring the ball from the right of the field to the left, Michaelhouse were unable to close the space quick enough, as the Kearsney boys entered the scoring zone along the baseline.

Some silky skills from Fritz Rheeder allowed Liam Johnson time on the ball to manipulate the defender in front of him, and place the ball in the bottom corner of the goal from the penalty flick spot.

Kearsney turned up the heat in the second half with a couple of chances being missed on the far post.

Being 1-0 in the last minutes of the game was a position that Kearsney had been in last weekend against Northwood. They were able to use that experience to see the game out and keep intact an unbeaten record at home.
