School cricket

With school cricket taking a break for most of the schools in the country, Rondebosch have just got over the line to head the SA School Sports First XI Rankings at this stage of 2023.

SACS, Rondebosch and Grey High School have all had their time as the No. 1 team on the rankings, and we can expect a close race when cricket resumes in the fourth term.

Rondebosch relied heavily on their bowlers in their match against Bishops as opening seamer Raaeq Daniels ripped through the top order to return figures of 5/29 and help to bundle out Bishops for 100 runs. Rondebosch needed less than 25 overs to chase down the total and secure a win that nudges them into the leading sport for this phase of the season.

It has been a great year for school cricket as it testified by the number of outstanding performances on the SA School Sports Honours Board for 2023. No less than 78 centurions and 95 five-fors listed. If we have missed some your players achievement please let us know.

Please continue to send through your cricket results to [email protected] if your team is touring or will be playing matches before the bulk of the cricket schools resumes in September 2023.
