The 2018 cricket season resumes with several of the leading teams already back in action and relishing the chance to continue the dual between willow and leather.
This week’s First XI Rankings has a big mover in the form of KES who enjoyed a great time of it beating both Clifton and Maritzburg College convincingly at the Fasken Time Festival recently. Bryce Parsons managed to pick up two tons in the process and Heinrich Pieterse put Maritzburg College to the sword with a wonderful 190 runs.
KES now move into the top three zone and with this type of form will be hoping to continue their upward climb on the rankings.
Rondebosch, another of the top contenders in 2018, enjoyed a successful 12 match tour of the UK beating the majority of their opposition which included the illustrious names of Harrow and Eton but came unstuck sadly in a couple of matches at the start of the tour.
The two Cameron’s from St.Stithians, Rowe and Shekleton, have been in terrific form so far with runs flowing from their respective bats. Cameron Rowe scored a fast 151 against Clifton with Cameron Shekleton notching up a fine 131 runs in their big win over the KZN team. The two Saints run machines went on to score 130* and 90 against ST Andrews School which underlines the form that they are in at present.
