SACS needed their match against Grey College to go their way last week to remain at the top of the table of this week’s First XI School Cricket Rankings.
However, Grey managed to beat SACS by only a handful of runs which opened the way for Rondebosch to retake the No.1 spot after they beat Grey College by 52 runs.
The biggest mover on the rankings table is undoubtedly St Stithians who look like they are back to their best as they peeled off the wins against Bishops, St Andrews College and Michaelhouse.
Dean Bacher from KES showed his class with a well struck century in their win over a strong Affies team which also saw Wilco de Bruin returning figures of 5/36.
St Stithians bowler Kwena Maphaka hobbled Michaelhouse’s efforts with a brilliant spell of 5/10 to secure a good win. Zach Mickelwright from St Andrews College did all he could against Bishops scoring 148 runs in a losing cause.
Ivan Lockem from Hilton College helped himself to three figures against St Davids and Kyle Smith from Paarl Gim set the stage for a memorable win over Wynberg with an unbeaten century.
As we draw to the close of the season there is little to chose between the leading teams and so we can expect positions to change depending on how the results go.
