St Andrew’s College vs Graeme College 1st cricket
The St Andrew’s College 1st XI Cricket team had Graeme in trouble on 68/6 on Lower Field on Saturday. Matthew Beamish and Roman van Zyl were superb up front for St Andrew’s, in applying the pressure. Ethan Beyleveld then changed the innings and the match for Graeme with a sparking 51 off just 52 balls, Graeme posting a competitive 210 first innings total in 61 overs.
St Andrew’s College, on 108/2 were well positioned for the late afternoon run chase. However Graeme’s SA U19 left arm fast bowler, Aphiwe Mnyanda applied pressure all afternoon, leading another comeback, with St Andrew’s struggling to deal with the wicket to wicket deliveries.
Graeme were well on top with St Andrew’s on 162/8 going into the last 40 minutess of play. St Andrew’s tried to hold on while Graeme pushed for victory. Graeme finished well-deserved winners by 29 runs. Kevin Geldenhuys finished with superb figures of 4/16 for Graeme.
