College travelled to Hilton College for a full round of soccer fixtures over the weekend, winning 10 of their 19 games, drawing four and losing five.
1st XI report – Mr N Haswell (Director of Soccer and 1st XI coach)
Near perfect playing conditions welcomed the teams onto the magnificent Zungu field at Hilton College, with both teams encouraged by very good support from the boys they had played earlier in the day.
College dominated possession in the early stages and were rewarded with the opening goal of
the game when Sphelele Sibiya rifled a shot into the roof of the net from just inside the box. College continued to dominate possession but were unable to convert the chances they created in the first half and Hilton took advantage of this by scoring the equaliser on the stroke of halftime to set up an intriguing second half.
The second half did not disappoint with both teams playing with good energy and pushing hard for a winning goal throughout. College began to take control of the midfield as the half wore on and some great wing play from Sibiya created the opportunity for Lwandile Mkhize to calmy tuck home the game’s winning goal, taking the final score to 2 – 1 to College.
