We look back on the 2024 hockey season which saw its fair share of upsets and excitement and reveal the SA School Sports Girls’ Combined Hockey Rankings. Staying true to our tradition, we’ve combined the rankings of U14, U16, and First XI teams to deliver a comprehensive picture of each school’s entire hockey program.
These rankings stand out by honoring schools that consistently perform across all age groups, celebrating institutions committed to cultivating young talent and promoting hockey excellence from the ground up.
This year, Oranje Meisies leads the rankings, demonstrating their strength across all levels and earning the title of the Top Girls’ Hockey School of 2024. Their achievements reflect the depth of their program. However, the rankings also emphasize that a top hockey school succeeds not only in its senior team but in developing talent at all levels. Schools that excel with senior teams but face challenges at the junior level are impacted in the overall rankings.
While these rankings highlight the strength of each program, they aren’t predictors of match outcomes; in school sports, every game holds surprises, adding to the thrill of competition.
