FAIRTREE First XI Cricket Rankings: 26/01/2026

This week’s Fairtree SA School Sports First XI Cricket Rankings build directly on the framework outlined in our opening release last week.

The methodology, philosophy and intent remain unchanged — what has changed is the growing body of on-field evidence.

With more fixtures now completed, the rankings begin to:

• Link schools through shared opposition

• Better reflect consistency rather than isolated performances

• Reveal early separation between competitive, developing and elite First XIs

As expected at this stage of the season, some movement is noticeable. This is a natural consequence of uneven fixture difficulty, differing formats and the gradual inclusion of schools as they reach the minimum match threshold.

A reminder that these rankings remain a performance index, not a results log — rewarding competitive cricket, strength of opposition and consistency over time rather than scoreline inflation or fixture volume.

As more data enters the system in the coming weeks, the picture sharpens and the rankings stabilise accordingly.
