SA School Sports Girls First Team School Hockey Rankings – Crunch Time Approaches!
As we edge within three weeks of the all-important cut-off to qualify for the two prestigious end-of-season tournaments, the pressure is palpable—and the margins razor-thin.
While the top half of the table remains relatively stable, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the long season is starting to take its toll on teams, coaches, and players alike. Every match now carries extra weight, and every goal could be the one that tips the balance.
St Anne’s Diocesan School is making a bold late surge for a Top 12 spot. With three successive victories last week, including a confident win over rivals Durban Girls’ College, they’ve put themselves firmly back in contention. And with the St Anne’s Cup kicking off soon—on their home turf—they may have timed their peak perfectly.
There’s a thrilling four-way battle brewing for the final qualifying positions. St Mary’s Kloof, St Anne’s, Pearson, and Herschel are all locked in a tight race, with just a few crucial games left to decide who secures a place at the Oranje Meisies Super 12 and who heads to the La Rochelle Rising Champions Cup.
The Top 12 teams on the SA School Sports School Hockey Rankings will earn their place at the Oranje Meisies Super 12 Tournament, while positions 13-24 will be invited to compete in the exciting Rising Champions Cup hosted by La Rochelle.
