DHS Scores Dramatic Last Minute Win v Marlow

school rugby

WHAT a thrilling match it was! Durban High School has just secured an absolutely sensational victory against their fierce rivals, Hoër Landbouskool Marlow, in a nail-biting showdown that had everyone on the edge of their seats.

The game started off with both teams determined to come out on top. Gideon Jordaan and Deano Boesak traded penalties early on, and the scoreboard was tied at 3-all. But it was DHS who dominated possession for most of the first half, although a few handling errors and some inaccurate passing prevented them from making the most of their opportunities.

Marlow’s defence was unyielding, and they showed remarkable patience before launching attacks of their own. It was a real test of endurance for both sides, but eventually, Siseko Mani powered his way over the try line to give DHS the lead.

Marlow hit back with a fantastic try of their own when flyhalf Aiden de Villiers executed a brilliant dink over the defence, which was scooped up by half-back partner Dempers Meyer for a converted try. The game was tied at 13-all at the break.

The second half saw both teams throwing everything they had at each other. Maurice Willemse sliced his way through Marlow’s defence to put DHS in front again, but a sensational individual effort from de Villiers levelled the scores at 18-all.

DHS fought back with a converted Amahle Mazibuko try, only to see standout Marlow hooker HD Aucamp score yet another try to even the scores once more. It looked like the game was heading for a draw, but with time running out, DHS launched a ferocious attack, which was finished off under the posts by Zingce Simke to secure an incredible victory.

What a game it was! Both teams played their hearts out, but in the end, DHS proved that they had what it takes to come out on top. Congratulations to DHS on their well-deserved win, and commiserations to Marlow, who fought valiantly until the very end.
