KES continue to knock on the door of the No.1 spot as they once again put on a winning brand of cricket that included three back to back victories.
Perhaps their best result was against St.Stithians who fell just 31 runs short of the KES total in what was a very good game of cricket. Joshua Streak was in fine form once again as he plundered 137 not out which helped KES to over 300 runs. A game fight by Cameron Rowe and Cameron Shekleton who both scored fifties for St Stithians, brought the match down to the wire but ultimately it was KES who held their nerve and took the win.
KES also clinched the Johnny Waite championship and are clearly the top team in Gauteng at the moment.
Kearsney College notched up two victories to keep their dream of higher honours alive and Maritzburg College are edging towards a top ten position after their win against Michaelhouse. However it is still Hilton College who holds onto the leading position as they crushed Westville, bundling the Durban outfit out for a mere 51 runs.
Perhaps one of the biggest upsets of the week was Noordheuwel getting the better of St John’s College who were all out to ‘nelson’ and lost by 5 wickets.
Riaz Palekar fought a lone fight for Wynberg against Paarl Boys High scoring 91 runs but it was not quite enough to prevent Boishaai claiming the victory. There was also a neatly packaged century by St. David’s batter J.Pilling who was left unbeaten on 107 runs against St.Albans.
