Soccer: Grey College's Mabaso Makes an Impact in PSL

Grey College has for decades been the leading rugby playing school in South Africa and continue to be a Springbok factory as they churn out great players year after year.

Few however would realise that soccer is very much a favourite sport at Grey College and they are poised to become a school that can also produce some future football stars for South Africa. Especially when we look at the Captain of the Grey College soccer team Tshegofatso Mabaso.

Tshegofatso Mabaso a Grade 12 learner at Grey College underlined just how seriously soccer is taken at Grey College when he was selected to player for Bloemfontein Celtic recently in the Telkom Knockout. This is a first for Grey to have a current learner play for a PSL team.

It was one thing for Mabaso to play in the PSL but who would have expected the impact the talented striker would make as he caused problems a number of times for the TUKS defenders, who needed to stay focused to deny him.

Tshegofatso Mabaso however did manage to find the net against Kaiser Chiefs when Celtic beat them 1-0 in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge.

Mabaso’s performance earned him a place in the PSL Team of the Week and impressive accomplishment for the Grey College Captain and a name that we are sure to hear of in the near future.
