Rugby: SA Schools Make Changes For Wales

Coach of the SA School Team Chris October has made several changes to the team that will play their final International U18 Series match against Wales this weekend.

The SA School’s Team has enjoyed some great wins in the series and are yet to be beaten but that has not stopped coach October making no less than 10 changes to the side that beat France 17-13 earlier this week.

Brandon Thomson from Ermelo HS is back in the team at flyhalf where he will team up with the No.9 Marco van Vuren who gets his first match of the series. The SA School’s team will also boast a formidable front row with Louis Botha’s Ox Nche, Ruan Kramer and Florida’s Joseph Dweba posing a powerful threat to the Welsh scrum. Daniel du Preez will join his brother Jean-Luc in the run on side

Chris October mentioned that “this is the best team we could put on the field against the physical and structured Welsh outfit. They offer something different to France and England, so it was a case of horses for courses. But just as the starting team has a role to play, so do the replacements; we are expecting them to make a big impact when they take to the field.”

Wales narrowly lost out against England where they were beaten 17-15 and will be determined to return home with the biggest scalp of the series.

“With the Welsh pack being one of their main threats the players realise that they have to match the visitors physically, but we would also like to produce a better performance on attack and defence. This team has immense potential and hopefully they will be able to showcase that and finish the series on a high,” said October.

The SA Schools clash will begin at 15h30, and in the earlier matches Italy meet the Boland Craven Week team at 12h30 and England take on France at 14h00.
