Combined U14,U15,U16 & First XV Rankings for 2017

The 2017 school rugby season has finished and once again we have witnessed the sport played in its purest form at an astonishingly high level.

The first year of high school rugby is over for this year’s U14’s and what a great season it has been with many schools hoping their juniors can continue to show this kind of form in the years to come.

It has been a very tough season amongst the U15 teams and no other rankings has generated as much conjecture which can be put down to how closely the top teams are.

Dale College put together a mighty performance in their match against old rivals Queen’s College winning by over 50 points to cap off a season that could have been a whole lot better if not for a few banana skins along the way.

As the dust settles on the 2017 season we take a moment to reflect on some of the mighty performances that took place this year and salute the boys and coaches who delivered a smorgasbord of high class rugby during the year.

The 2017 season comes to an end this weekend but there some big matches planned for this weekend.

Since the last publishing of the rankings some several week’s back there has been some notable movement that has taken place on the U14 Top 100 Rankings which sees Grey College in pole position at this late stage of the season.

Outeniqua who have led perhaps the most closely contested age group in the rankings for the entire season needed to beat Paarl Gim in order to remain at the top of the U15 Belgotex Top 100 Rankings.

The holder of the No.1 position on the U16 Belgotex Rankings was always going to come down to who won the season decider between Paul Roos Gym and Grey College.

The penultimate Belgotex First XV Top 100 Rankings sees little change after this weekend’s matches which still sees Boishaai at the top followed by Grey College and KES.

The 2017 season comes to an end this weekend but there some big matches planned for this weekend.

Grey College set about trying one last effort to reclaim the number one position on the First XV Belgotex Top 100 Rankings for 2017 with a devastating display against one of the powerhouses of KZN rugby, Glenwood.

Some of the teams will be on display for the final time in 2017 and there is still plenty of big matches planned for this weekend.

The Outeniqua machine kept things tight in their match against Framesby and although they were given a few scares, held on to the win and remain firmly entrenched at the top of the U15 Belgotex Sports Top 100 Rankings.

Paul Roos Gym still command the top of the U16 Belgotex Sports Top 100 Rankings for this week as we draw to the end of the 2017 season in what has been a very tightly contested few months.

It simply doesn’t get bigger in the world of school rugby than the annual derby between Paarl Boys High and Paarl Gim.

Some of the biggest matches in world school rugby are on show this weekend including the biggest of them all- Paarl Boys High vs Paarl Gim!

Grey College have climbed up to snatch the top spot on this week’s U14 Belgotex Sports Top 100 Rankings in what could work out to be a perfectly timed run of form.

At this very late stage of the season Affies scored a vital win over Maritzburg College to nudge past Paarl Gim into second spot on this week’s U15 Belgotex Sports Top 100 Rankings.

Paarl Boys High came back from the break to continue where they had left off and notched up yet another victory against SACS who put up a huge defensive effort against the Number 1 ranked team in South Africa.

Another massive week of rugby across the country!

The Coca-Cola Craven Week is where South Africa’s heroes are made. The premier youth rugby tournament, which sees the u18 provincial rugby teams battle it out in an action-packed week, has seen over 260 Springbok players come through its ranks.

For many of the U14 teams around the country their season has come to an end and with it their first taste of high school rugby. Although there are still a few schools that have a couple of fixtures still to play this is how the Belgotex Sports U14 Rankings are looking like for this week.

Glenwood tumble out of the top five on this week’s Belgotex Sports U15 Rankings after struggling to convert their chances in their match against an upbeat Maritzburg College team who engineered a great win over the Green Machine.

It was a massive effort by Boland Landbou as they locked horns with the indomitable Paarl Boys High to try and do what no other team has done yet in 2017- Beat Boishaai!
