MTB: Western Cape Champions Crowned

Parel Vallei High School wrapped up the 2016 Spur Schools Mountain Bike League season in stellar style winning both the mixed and women’s categories, while Paul Roos Gymnasium was crowned men’s champion. 

For the third year running, Stanford Lake College will host the “Spur Tour de Lake” – the second regional Spur Schools Mountain Bike League race of the season in Limpopo and another chance to qualify for the 2016 finals.

Potchefstroom Gimnasium showed their steel logging 199 points at the second North West race of the 2016 Spur Schools MTB League, which was hosted at Hartebeespoort High School.

A total of 664 high school mountain bike riders competed in the second Gatueng race of the Spur Schools MTB League.  The event was hosted at Bekker High School in Magaliesburg, which will also play host to the national finals in October.

Eight years into the Spur High Schools Mountain Bike League organisers are anticipating that more than 500 Southern African schools will be represented in the 2016 season, which will run from May to October.  To date more than 2000 riders representing 233 schools have participated this year.

Gauteng pulled out all the stops for a convincing win at the 2013 Interprovincial Competition hosted as part of the Spur Shool Mountainbike League Finals.

MTB: Paul Roos Gym to Host MTB Finals

Fierce competition is expected at the Western Cape Finals of the 2013 Spur High Schools Mountain Bike League at Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch this Saturday, 24 August 2013 as this is the last opportunity to qualify for the National Finals in September.

Excitement is building amongst young mountain bike riders in Kwazulu Natal who will get to test ride parts of the cross country course and eliminator courses at Cascades MTB Park in Pietermaritzburg the weekend before the UCI MTB Masters World Championships.

Record Entries For Gauteng Leg of MTB League

Tension is mounting in the Spur School Mountain Bike League as top schools countrywide battle it out for a place in the finals.  A record number of more than 600 riders from more than 80 schools congregated at FH Odendaal High School for the first leg of the Gauteng leg recently presented by Anatomic.

The Spur High School Mountain Bike League has shown exceptional growth over the past four years and judging by the number of entries in the early races of the 2013 series, the league is set for yet another record breaking season.

MTB: Paul Roos Finish Top in Western Cape

Paul Roos Gymnasium who won the 2011 National Finals of the Spur School Mountain Bike league, finished top of the Western Cape log with a total of 1084 points after the Western Cape Regional Finals hosted at the school this weekend.

Fierce competition is expected at the Western Cape Finals of the Spur High Schools Mountain Bike League at Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch this Saturday, 1 September.

 

The 2012 Spur School Mountain Bike League has already generated more than 3300 entries surpassing the 2011 participation record with still a month and seven events to go before the finals.

 

Hartebeespoort High School played host to the biggest school cross-country mountainbike event ever to be hosted in South Africa, when more than 500 cyclists competed in the Anatomic Spur School Mountain Bike League race this weekend.
