Rugby: Easter Festival Week Off to a Flyer!

It took all of 1000 days in the making but it was Paarl Gim who finally were able to beat the mighty Grey College team in what must go down as one of their biggest results!

 

The SA Institute for Drug-Free Sport has announced the sentencing of two teenagers who tested positive for banned anabolic steroids at Craven Ruby Week in June 2011. The Institute has also announced it intends starting a major clamp down on doping teenagers, with ‘out of competition’ testing in schools, where there is ‘justified suspicion’ from April 2012.  

 

Kimberley’s Rietvale High School beat Mohloli Secondary School from Sharpeville 10-9 on penalties to claim the inaugural SA Schools Shootout title at Sacred Heart College in Observatory, Johannesburg today (Saturday 31 March). The match, broadcast live on SuperSport 4, saw the teams finish the match with a goal apiece – meaning the match headed straight to the lottery of penalties.

The Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival

It may be the Easter weekend, but Kearsney College will be preparing for the arrival of several hundred of the country’s top schoolboy rugby players, their coaches and families, as well as several thousand supporters of schoolboy rugby as they flock to the fifth anniversary of the prestigious Kearsney Easter Schools Rugby festival which is set to kick off on April 5, 2012 on Stott Field.
