School Rugby Rankings : 10th May, 2011

There is no change to the top three this week in the SA SchoolSports Rugby Rankings which is a fair result considering that none of the top three lost.

On Wednesday, 4 May 2011, the Glenwood 1st Tennis Team travelled to Johannesburg for the annual Wayne Ferreira Tennis Tournament, hosted by Parktown Boys' High School. The 8 competing schools were divided into two pools of 4 teams each, with each pool playing a Round Robin to determine the top two schools in each pool. Glenwood's first match was played on Thursday morning against last year's winners, Stellenbosch  High. The game was a tough one, made worse by the absence of Jeandré Hoogenboezem, last year's School Champion, due to a hockey injury.

 

For the past few years now swimming in the Western Cape has been undergoing a revolution. No longer is it the sole domain of the "Big Four" boys' schools who for many years dominated that yardstick of schools swimming in the Cape, the Boy/Girl gala at the Newlands Swimming Baths. A new power has emerged from the home of rugby and red wine. And they're all girls!

In a Landmark judgment yesterday, a former school rugby player won his case against an opposing player who injured his so severely during a scrum that it left him with a broken neck, reported the Mercury newspaper.
