Westville suffered their first defeat of the season when they took on a motivated Jeppe side in a tightly contested scrap. This has resulted in the two leaders, Rondebosch and Maritzburg College opening up some daylight on the chasing pack in this week’s Belgotex Sports Top 70 Rankings.

Maritzburg College playing away from home struggled to come to grips with a KES team who played their match of the season so far. College who were down 1-2 for most of the game and looked destined to taste their first defeat dug deep to score an equaliser with less than 20 seconds of the match left and in so doing salvage a draw.

Another KZN team, Kearsney College, move into the top five after a great display against Glenwood who had earlier in the week gone down to Clifton. Leading for most of the match it looked as if Glenwood had this one sown up but a crucial error by Glenwood with 20 seconds on the clock led to Kearsney winning a short corner and capitalized on the advantage to force a 2-2 draw.

Rondebosch are still unbeaten although their 8-0 drubbing of struggling Fairbairn only served to keep Maritzburg College within touching distance.
