A stable top five this week in the SA School Sports Top 70 Rankings for Boys with Kearsney nudging past PBHS after their loss to Maritzburg College during the past weekend.

There is not much to choose between the leading teams at the moment with many teams still with a chance to go up the table if they finish the season strongly.

However at the moment it is Maritzburg College, who were given a scare by Pretoria Boy’s High last week, who remain at the top of the rankings although SACS are breathing down their necks in second place.

This is how the rankings are looking like this week. Please send through any outstanding results along with your enquiries to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

A fairly stable top ten this week in the SA School Sports Girls Hockey Rankings, with Oranje Meisies leading the way after a successful All Girls Festival.

The Boys and Girls School hockey results from the past week:

Some of the leading teams took the week off and so we have a pretty stable top 10 this week on the SA School Sports Hockey Rankings for Boys.

The Kingswood College and the highly competitive All Girls Festival hosted by Oranje Meisies dominated proceedings during the past long weekend on the hockey front.

Oranje Meisies retain the number one position on the SA Schools Hockey Rankings for another week after a comfortable win during the past week.

Maritzburg College still maintain control of the SA Schools Top 50 Rankings for this week after securing a victory over Glenwood which helped to maintain their unbeaten status.

Hockey: This Week's Results: 19/04/2015

This week’s boy’s and girl’s hockey results from around the country.

After a successful Nomads where they remained unbeaten, Maritzburg College remain marginally at the top of the SA School Sports Hockey Rankings although SACS have entered the race with a very strong challenge to the number one spot.

A dramatic final of the St.Mary’s Investec Hockey Festival between Oranje Meisies and St. Stithians turned out to be a battle for the top spot on the SA School Sports Hockey Rankings for Girls and ultimately it was Oranje that held out for the tightest of wins.

School hockey in 2015 promises to produce some hotly contested matches as more and more schools have acquired Astroturf fields which could mean the gap between the teams have closed to a degree.

Entries have opened for the 12th annual Cape Town Under-18 International Schools/Clubs Hockey Festival for boys’ and girls’ first teams that takes place from July 21 to 26 next year, and if the glowing endorsements by highly respected hockey personalities of this year’s tournament are anything to go by, next year’s event promises to be an even bigger success.
