For the sixth year in a row Oranje Meisies won the All Girl’s Tournament when they duelled it out with Collegiate in the final match and narrowly took the win on showdowns 2-1.

We have arguably one of the most closely contested rankings for many a season with very little to separate the leading teams in the country.

This Week’s School Hockey results from around South Africa:

Maritzburg College take control of the No.1 spot on this week’s Belgotex Sports Rankings for Boys after a highly successful St.Stithians Festival which saw them keep their unbeaten status intact.

With the 2018 hockey season well on the way for many of the school teams here is a quick look at which teams have already shown a bit of form in these early stages.

It is obviously very early in the 2018 season with many teams either yet to play their first match or with only a couple of matches under the belt.

Log leaders Rondebosch, perhaps feeling the effects of a long season battled to gain the ascendancy over Bishops last week and were forced to accept their second defeat of the season both courtesy of their neighbours Bishops.

Maritzburg College lost out on an opportunity to close the gap on Rondebosch and try one last attempt at snatching the No.1 position in the country when their match against KES was cancelled.

It has been a long season for the leaders of this week’s Belgotex Top 80 Rankings, Oranje Meisies, a season which has seen them win virtually every tournament that was on offer and deservedly they will end up as the top team in 2017.

After several weeks off, the No.1 ranked team on this week’s Belgotex Sports Rankings, Rondebosch got the second half of their season underway with two victories which has helped to consolidate their position with fast chasing Maritzburg College team now within touching distance.
