Cricket: Match Report: SACS vs Rondebosch

Rondebosch travelled to SACS on Saturday, 1st March and batted first on a decent track.

Murray Commins Rondebosch Boys

Milligan had the Bosch skipper, Matthew Christensen, trapped in front early on but Keagan Langford (27) and Murray Commins batted fluently against the seamers to put Bosch in a comfortable position on 91 for 1. The SACS spinners, Ebrahim and in particular, Robert Newby, bowled well and Newby got the breakthrough bowling Langford.

Newby continued to put the batsmen under pressure and picked up another three wickets to turn the game around with the visitors on 125 for 5. Gavin Kaplan (44) then joined Commins at the crease and the pair put on a partnership of 124 to take Rondebosch to 249 for 6 after 66 overs when the declaration came.

Commins continued his rich vein of form to finish on a masterful 151 not out including 15 fours and 6 towering sixes. Despite benefitting from some indifferent catching, Murray scored all round the wicket, taking on the spinners whenever he was afforded the chance. He has, since the start of the year, scored 786 runs at an average of 87.33!

SACS appeared to have little stomach for the fight in their response with only two batsmen getting to double figures. Dayyaan Galiem, in his last game before leaving for the U19 World Cup, picked up 3 for 17 and all the other seamers picked up wickets to have SACS dismissed for 68 in just 26 overs, giving Rondebosch victory by 181 runs.
