Cricket: Top Batters & Bowlers from CSA U15 Week

Northerns were by someway the best side on show and deservedly finish the week as the leading U15 provincial side in the country.

Dean Foxcroft heads the batting averages for the week with a staggering average of 303 runs which included four not out knocks and a century. Menlopark certainly have a player of rare ability and it will be interesting to see how this young right hander progresses in 2014.

Christopher Schreuder took the second spot in the batting averages as the Free Stater compiled a total of 225 runs during the week at the healthy average of 56 and he was closely followed by the Griqualand West all rounder Wiaan van Niekerk who averaged 44 runs in the weeks play.

Gavin Morris from Hilton College was the  other centurion during the CSA U15 Week when he smashed 127 runs on Day One against Free State. Morris ended up with an average of 71 runs after compiling 214 runs in his five innings.

In the Bowling department it was the "Mamelodi Magician" Nkosinathi Msiza who spun a spell of high class legbreak bowling to end up with the most wickets. Msiza claimed 12 wickets during the week including a five wicket haul against Border. The leggie not only was attacking but economical too conceding only 2.5 runs per over and averaging just 9 runs per wicket!

Oranje Noord's Rikus Pretorius was second on the list with 11 wickets, whilst the Rondebosch offbreak spinner Suhail White impressed to end up with 10 wickets.

Mika Ekstrom from Wynberg Boy's High and Western Province who started the week well with an electric 5/5 in the opening match against Northerns ended the week with 9 wickets and finished as the most economical bowler on show with an economy rate of 2.21 runs per over and his 9 victims cost an average of just 4.22 runs.

It was an impressive display of top class cricket from players who will feature prominently in 2014 as many graduate to their respective first XI's. Congratulations to all who took part, the players, coaches and Cricket South Africa for yet another successful U15 Cricket Week.
